Camerata Music was created in 1980 by Laurie Rosewarne and Sonia Pescatore with the goal of providing not only quality musical education in a stimulating environment, but also to nurture a love and respect for music as a valuable artistic expression in everyday life.
In sixteenth-century Florence, “La Camerata” was a group of independent musicians, poets and writers who worked together. Their collaboration resulted in a new art form - opera. Camerata Music is a unique studio in that we, using this Renaissance model, work together while operating independently. Our team consists of professional educators with formal qualifications, and extensive teaching and performance experience.
An important part of our philosophy to encourage student
participation in various performance and listening opportunities, i.e.
festivals, examinations, recitals, in-studio workshops, master classes
and ensemble work.
The goal of our dedicated instructors is to design an integrated
program structured to suit each student’s individual needs and
abilities, and to hone the skills necessary to become independent
musicians!
