She holds both the pedagogy and performance ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music. After successful competitions, she studied on scholarship with Christina Petrowska-Quilico in Toronto and completed her Bachelor of Music in performance with Natalie Pépin, at the Université de Montréal. Sonia has appeared in concert with Open Score in co-production with the CBC, Les Concerts Ponticello and recitals for various chamber music associations such as the reputable series Les AMIS concerts in Toronto.
In 2007, she co-hosted and co-founded the Border Crossing concert series at the National Arts Centre’s Fourth Stage with the premise to promote annual performances of alternative styles of music including Classical/Jazz fusion. In order to further the exposure of contemporary music, she has enjoyed facilitating workshops for the University of Ottawa, The Suzuki Association, as well as adjudicating the Contemporary Showcase Festival in Ottawa, Montréal and North Bay.
Sonia has recently compiled a live CD featuring solo pieces from her University of Ottawa Master’s recitals which highlights her particular love of new music by Canadian composers.
